Hi All,
Hope this is the correct place to post this
I want to make a upvc door with side panels
THis is to show what size the side panles would look like if a made the door 900mm wide
with a total width of 1,500mm
the frame sizes would be 50mm thick, so would have 4 up right frames 50mm x 4 =200mm
Take off 900mm plus frame size 200mm would leave a glass panel of 400mm div by 2 = 200mm each side
So could this be done in Sketch up and if so how would i go about it please
If I make an object or lets say a square 100.5mm X 100.5mm, it shows that it is 101mm instead of 100.5mm! How can I make it appear 100.5mm and make sure that I have the right dimensions?
Hi guys… please help me out. I’m currently having an issue about component. When I create a component as usually (ex. Component Name : Box), then I was using Move-Copy tools to create a similar component, it should under same name also “Box”, right? but, I don’t know why it became to Box#1 as another intended new component which unrelated to that component Box. so, when I edit the component those Box ad Box#1 are not affected between each other. And I also see that there is no way to click Make Unique for any of those components.
So, please advice me what should I do? Thanks
I’m in the middle of a project and need to know How to migrate extensions, scenes, templates from the earlier version into 2018pro without manually rebuilding everything. Thanks
May i use Sketchup Make to open file only for commercial project ?
Noted : im not create model, not render, not modify anything, i just need to open the file just to see the model inside , because the file not created by me, but sent by my client.
thanks for helping me.
Hello sketchup community once again! So I really like this chair and would like to model it in sketchup. Since its curvilinear I wanted to know the best way you guys would tackle building a chair like this. I feel as though the curved back with the flat seat might be the most difficult part and I’m not sure which tools I should use for this crescent shape. Any advice is much appreciated
Hello,
I’m building a PC to use SketchIp and SoftPlan (actually building it for a relative so I don’t have experience building PCs for this specific use) using some parts of my old PC. These are the specs I’m thinking about, please let me know if this is good enough. Any advice is appreciated.
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4 GHz Quad-Core
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX
Memory: Kingston HyperX 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Kingston A400 240 GB 2.5" SSD
Storage: WD Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD

I found this stl file and imported it into sketchup, I need to move the holes a bit while expanding the legs a tad bit longer. I started out making my own design from a starting point of a square, I am a bit stuck on how to make the curves now. I was playing with the arc tool but I cant seem to get the contours looking good enough. Can someone please offer some guidance?
I cant seem to install LightUp on my mac. I used to use it all the time, but it was probably 3 SketchUp versions ago.
It’s very frustrating, but when I open the .zip file from LightUp, there is no .rbz file only:
LightUp.pkg
LMapExt.bundle
LMapExt2_x64.bundle
LMapExt2.bundle
The .pkg file is the typical sorftware installation file for Macs. I click on it, and it says I have successfully installed the software, but it doesn’t effect SketchUp. I can shutdown and restart the computer, or quit and relaunch SketchUp, but LightUp never appears. If I go to Extension Manager and hit “Install,” there is no .rbz file in my downloads, just the expanded .zip folder with the .pkg and .bundle files mentioned above. Thoughts? I have used LightUp in the past, but it has been frustrating trying to get it going again.
Which has made me quite anxious that the objects I have printed for my project are not true isometric views. So, I’m wondering what the difference is between the inital method I used and the plugin.
Thanks, also I’m sorry if this hasn’t made sense, I haven’t been using Sketchp for that long.
As demonstrated in the attached video, I had to use the line tool and draw a 2d rectangle, then right click on it to intersect faces, then make one side of the ‘split’ object a group, and then move that new group aside.
Repeat the first few steps again, then newly created split group is deleted, since I wanted to make the corner brace 1mm shorter (10mm scaled). To do the opposite (e.g. extra 5mm), it seems I would select the move tool, then do ctrl c, then use the mouse to move it up.
Edit: there’s no need to redraw the 2d rectangle, just use the move tool, and move it down the desired amount.
Scaling is not an option since the hole size would change, and so would the ‘thickness’ of the corner brace.
Also, is it possible to reposition or resize the hole on the brace, without the deleting the old one? I’d appreciate a demonstration if possible.
Edit: Yes it possible to do both, the scale tool seemed to work, and the move tool, after highlight the circle/hole area.
I am considering buying the student license via my student email but I will still be a student after the license expires. Will I be able to renew the license and maintain access to PRO?
I have made a fairly simple 3D model.
I wan to ad some text into it.
I have managed to make the graphics solid group and outer shell. This can be exported as a stl file, no problem.
When i enter text it appears as solid group. I can even make this a an outer shell.
But when i want to add some more geometry (basically a thin box going through all the letters in the text to make them hold together when printing) it all goes crazy.
Many times i get a “bug splash”, the program crashes, or i lose some of the letters in the group or it refuses to stay as a solid group.
Any tips from you guys? Im desperate right now.

When I import an autocad model into sketchup it is not to scale. I can scale the model but the individual “blocks” from autocad are not scaled as “components” in sketchup. Any help?
Bonjour,

I have just been advised that there is a new version of SU 2018 that I can install. That puts me in a quandary. The new version of SU 2019 must be imminent if past years are anything to go by. So I am not sure whether to bother with a new version of the old software. Or does this suggest that 2019 may not be here as soon as we all expect??
Hey guys, Im trying to import data from csv or excel files into sketchup and then assign that data to objects.
for example xyz coordinates and set an object at the imported positons…or angles for rotation?
I have recently started learning ruby and have been searching for plugins to replicate this
